地铁.用英语怎么写

地铁根据国家的不同有不同的说法，传统上来说在英国用的是underground，如伦敦地铁=london underground，不过现在用这个说法的地方越来越少了。

比较常用的是美国式的subway，如纽约地铁=New York City Subway，北京地铁用的也是Beijing Subway；另外，源自法国地铁常用的说法metro，也在很多国家普遍通用，如巴黎地铁最早的时候叫做，Chemin de Fer Métropolitain，意思为大都会铁路，其中Métropolitain一词既为英文的Metropolitan，正因为该说法，后来大家把地铁简称为metro了，上海地铁用的正是Shanghai Metro的用法。在其他主要的英语使用国家也因为实际地铁的形式不同有其他的说法，如香港的地铁叫MTR，英文是Mass Transit Railway，这是因为香港的地铁在市中心驶出之后，在九龙的一些地方是在地面行驶的，因此用了这种叫城市轨道交通的说法。

相同的情况在澳大利亚与新西兰，也因为当地的地铁在除了会在城市中心在地下，在稍远的郊区都会以路上铁路的形式出现。如悉尼的Sydney Tarin和奥克兰的Auckland CRL(city rail link)，都是以“火车”和“城轨”的说法来一并感扩了他们的地铁交通系统。
